Oberwölz
The Wood Route
The community of Oberwölz has two attractions for its guests: the „Lohstampfe“ and the Austrian Brass Band Museum.
The „Lohstampfe“ or „Lederstampfe“ is an old leather processing works. In these little wooden buildings, leather for trousers was softened using fish oil and straw, and fresh spruce bark was chopped and sold to surrounding tanneries.
The Austrian Brass Band Museum is located in the Cultural House, a building dating to the 14th century. The museum contains old musical instruments and photographs of the most famous band leaders.
